Europeans: Way of Life |
| 1. Present Oriented: Focused on what is happening right now—daily life and living in the moment. |
1. Future OrientedSet goals for th future. Puts off the pleasures of today for benefits in the future. |
| I agree with the Europeans because you have to be ready for what will happen tomorrow.Well if you live in the moment you might loose all your money and if you live by looking for what you might need tomorrow you will keep that money and just waist it in what you need.Well if you live for the moment you won’t think about tomorrow and if you do that you might do something dumb and regretted later. But if all you do is think in the future you might miss something exciting and when you find out or want to do it is too late.Well Native Americans like to with out anyone telling them how to. The Europeans are going to try and tell them how to so that the next day they will have what they need and not suffer. |
| 2. Not Time Conscious In olden times, most tribes did not have a word for time, because time was relative. It is the month to pick berries. When the sun comes up. |
2. Very Time Conscious Very time conscious with clocks, watches, and certain amounts of time set aside for each task or job.
|
| Well I go with the Europeans way of keeping track of time because that way you know what time it is and not worry that you are going to do you job or something else to late. Well if you are lazy you will do what you need to do when you feel like but you won’t know if you doing at the right time maybe is to late or to early. If you do it the European way you will know when the right time is and not worry and later on you will have time to go play and not do you job in a hurry. Well a problem with not having time is that you don’t know if you doing something in the right time or if you doing it at the wrong time. Know having time also is bad because you sometime don’t have time to have fun because the schedule is full of work and you didn’t make time to have fun. Well since Native Americans like to take their time when they worked and they also liked to have a lot of fun and the Europeans like to do things quick and fast and do a lot of work so the next day or later that day you could have fun they both disagreed and there is when problems might of started. |
| 3. Giving A respected person is one who gives. A person who hoards is watched with distrust. (European proverb: It is better to give than to receive.) |
3. Saving A respected person is someone who saves. Even education is an investment in the future. (European proverb: A penny saved is a penny earned.)
|
| I agree with saving because you have to save every little thing because you never know when you might need it. Well I you save you will have what you need later on with out worrying about asking others if they can help you. Giving is also good because if you give to others the community sees you as a giver and not a taker they will show you more respect and appreciate whatever you do. Well giving a lot can take away from you and sometimes you might not be able to give because you need what you were about to give to others. Saving alto is also bad because when you see how much you have saved you will try to waste it all in on day. Well since the Europeans liked to keep everything they had and never gave nothing back to the Indians after they gave something to them the Indians saw them ass greedy and non-giving. |
| 4. Cooperation Cooperation is healthy and essential. Anyone who tries to stand out is showing off. They believe in team effort. There was some competition. |
4. Competition Competition is healthy and essential. You do not have to win but you must try to achieve first place. There was some cooperation. |
| I agree with both because you need both to make it in this world having the mind of being first but you also need to do with team work. Well when you work as a team you can accomplish more things and when you play as a competitor you always have the mind of a winner and that is good. Working as a team can be bad sometimes because you might get mad at a teammate and when you play competitive you might lose focus of what you want and end up messing everything up. Well Europeans like to be competitive and Native Americans like to do things as a team and that split the differences in both of them. |
| 5. Harmony with Nature Accepts nature. They do not try to change it. If a log falls across a creek, no one moves it. The creek path might change, but that is harmony. Farmers did plant seed and irrigate their crops, but these are exceptions. |
5. Conquest over Nature Controls nature by building dams and power plants. There are preserves set aside where land, plant, and animal life are in their natural state, but these are exceptions. |
| I like the Native American way of life which is Harmony and Nature because maybe that way our Earth could be cleaner. Well because of doing everything in harmony and nature you won’t destroy nature with a lot of pollution. But doing everything in conquest over nature you will be industrialize and have light, cars, and malls. Well one problem with harmony and nature is that you won’t have things that will help you to do a job quicker and you won’t be industrialize. Now doing everything conquest over nature you will pollute the earth and destroy it. Well because Europeans wanted to do thing their way and mess around with nature the native Americans got mad and they decided that the best thing was to go to war with them. |
